There are a number of 111 stoves for sale on auction sites, with the seller noting that kerosene is recommended. I'm confused about fuels for earlier types of 111 stoves. Is there a guide or chart available? Many thanks. Tim
The 111 was introduced in the early 1950's. Here is a page from a 1957/8 catalogue which should help.
Sellers in US do not always know the different types of 111s. 111 kerosene, 111 b white gas,see here https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/15499
Using the search engine to look back, this seems to be an inexhaustible source for contention and cross-postings Fuelled [pun be pardoned] by the exuberance of sales people producing this kind of thing...
I know the 111B was made for gas, the 111 can run it, but it doesn't have a positive seal. The NRV is the only thing keeping the fuel in the tank. Since fireballs are known to happen I use kerosene only and don't use the 111B. If all I had was gas, I would use a different stove. But that's just me.
The 111, 111B, 111T and Hiker+ all work very well with Coleman fuel and similar Naptha-based fuels. But, handle every gun as if it were loaded.
correct me if i'm wrong. the Optimus 111 was fitted with either a roarer burner or a silent burner. , thus the roarer burner with four tubes was a kerosene burning stove not unlike the silent burner which was also designed to burn kerosene?
