I'm waiting on some good light to get some "beauty shots" (if I can manage it!), however, for now, I have shots that (hopefully) show the differences. First up is the Patent marked 00, made in Stockholm. The burner for this may have been swapped over with the one from the "Uppl-Vasby" one, I can't remember now - sorry Next stove stamped UPPL.-VASBY And the later one stamped MADE IN SWEDEN And finally (for now) the tins...
I really like the shape of the fount/tank, my 00 Patent does not look that nice and the tin is pretty rusted. Duane
I agree with Duane. The Optimus 00 has a very pleasing shape and proportions. Its a top ten in my book. Thanks for sharing Expat
Hi Expat. 1. I believe that the "Stockholm" Patent 00 pre-dates the Upplands Vasby 00s. 2. The first burner that you show (with the Stockholm Patent 00 tank) is one of the earlier types as it has OPTIMUS, Arabic characters, and Cyrillic orthography in the "old" style. I believe that Optimus probably used this type of burner up to the early 1930s 3. I therefore believe that in the series of photos shown, you have the correct burner for the Stockholm Patent 00. 4. The second burner that you illustrate has the burner head showing "OPTIMUS" SWEDEN and Arabic characters . This is a later style and probably correct for the Upplands Vasby 00. 5. The third style of burner head, with OPTIMUS, PRIMUS, and Arabic characters, is the most recent of the three burner styles shown, and dates from the period just after the formation of the Primus Trading Co.in 1962. 6. You have noted that it has the "Made in Sweden" tank marking and it is using a "Primus" style and colour box. This stove and burner pairing that you show is correct. To summarise: the very nice Optimus 00 photo series that you have produced looks to be made up of the correct tank/burner combinations. Best Regards, Kerophile.
