Hi, Here are a few photos of a fuel filler cap as used on 2 pint Primus stoves up to around 1918: This filler cap has been well-used and still contains a leather washer inside. The markings are nice: "AKTBOL BA HJORTH &Co. Stockholm" AKTBOL, sometimes further abbreviated to AB is stands for "aktiebolag" which, in English, means registered company. Best Regards, Kerophile.
Hi George. I think limited company is a more accurate translation of aktiebolag, but it's difficult since the company forms varies a bit between countries. A company of the "Aktiebolag"-form is based on shares, public or private. Both are just simply called "Aktiebolag" (The word "Aktie" means "Share" (as in shares of the companys stock)).
Some more pre-1918 Hjorth/Primus filler caps for comparison. This one is on a Hjorth Vesuvius blowtorch dating from c.1896: Similar misplacement of Cyrillic 'N' (actually 'I') has been posted on stoves too; but I've never seen another one with this other bit of wrong font selection: Cap on pre-1911 Primus '0' stove: And finally cap on 1911 'A' Primus No.1:
