This Solus came to me missing many parts. I had Bernie Dawg make up a "new" travel cap, he did a great job. I had to fabricate grate support legs, and will have to do up new ones now that I have an Optimus #45 grate to use as a model. I had to fabricate a flame ring, which I did out of a section of a brass vase I found at a thrift shop. And of course I have to find a genuine Coleman grate somewhere (???). It has only had a superficial cleaning, otherwise the fount is as found.

Beautiful discus Solus Stan, thanks for sharing. Coleman-stamped flame spreaders and the odd Coleman pot ring show up on ebay now and then, I'll send you the link(s) should one pop up there or elsewhere. What year do you figure? 1920-1930?

I looked at Kerophile's description of how the various years fuel caps looked and I'd thought later, more like 50s or 60s.

Hi Stan. Very nice Canadian Solus, great flame shots. The travel cap looks original (just a bit brighter), BD does a great job. Ive never seen this type of fuel cap on any other brand of stove except the Canadian Solus. Doesnt mean there isnt but it is very unique. I got a trivit (Coleman Canada)from the UK a while ago thinking I'd use it on my US Solus and ended up finding a Canadian Solus for the trivit.

Very nice Stan, I am glad 1 found 1. I am a friend of Stans and now there are 3 or 4 Solus's within a few hours of each other. Some day we will show all burning together
