Coleman 501 dated 1962

    Another present from my good friend dday in the US to go with my 500, 500a, 502, 520 and 530.
    The 501 was recalled by Coleman because of the round vaporiser not being able to do its job. It was replaced with the very efficient 502. Although I did get the 501 to light the stove did leak un- vaporised fuel all over the place. Maybe it was just me doing something wrong but as it is for my collection and not to use I don't really care.

    Hello,
    Coleman stopped the production of the 501's because of problems. I am not sure what the real problem was but, if you send them back to Coleman they will send youa new replacement stove. Although I would rather keep a 501 if not just for the novelty.

    IIRC, the 501's were a flop, and Coleman recalled most of them. Those that are left are indeed Collectors items, due to scarcity.
    Especially in the UK...
