Just got hold of a Companion stove it came with a cone full of holes which sits on top of the burner. What is this for? Also it will start, but after a few pumps it cuts off.

Any info on these two question as I am new to this stove game.

    To the first question:
It's a heat spreader. holding the heat of the stove there and radiating it off instead of the heat "escaping" upwards with the flame.

Hi Vic, could you be a bit more precise re the cutting out? It could be you're loosing pressure through a bad seal on the fillercap (if it is hard, it needs to be replaced) or via a leaking NRV valve (sits at the bottom of the pump). If it is the NRV also fuel will be leaking out (if the level in the fount is high enough) through the pump.

    Regards,

    Wim

    Hi Vic

Have a look on this site for fire bowls and heaters. The cone is part of a heater. Usually has a polished aluminium reflector behind.

    It dont have to be!
The domes were/are sold seperatly and transforms a standard stove into a crude room heater.
