What a fine stove ! This is going to seem a bit like the before to KP's after !

In any case here's a few pics of my Juwel 21 which is a 1 pinter that also has the reserve lid as part of the pump, a neat idea which I haven't seen anyone else copy.

Actually, it was copied (sort of) by Optimus. This is an Optimus 00 that I purchased from Optimus USA in the mid 1980s. Notice that the reserve lid is a small "button" that screws on to the end of the pump.

    Morning Arch

I see your point about the Reserve lid on a 00 but there is a very fundamental difference between the way the two manufacturers used the idea.

With the 00 the pump still has a terminal which you can grip and pump it up with, but without the Reserve lid on the Juwel you only have the threaded end of the pump rod to grab hold of ! Hence little chance that you would lose it whereas the 00's is easily lost !

Hi, Here is another example of a combined pump knob/ reserve tank cap. This time from a Swedish Manufacturer!

This is a 1963 Primus 100/4128 stove. So Primus might not have been first, but they certainly tried the idea.

    Hi KP

What does the 100's pump rod look like without the knob on, is it 00 or Juwel in style ?

    Regards

Hi Keith, the pump knob on the 100 which I showed , operates just like that of a Jewel; It totally detaches, leaving the threaded shaft only. On my photo you can see the large diameter threaded portion of the knob, which then screws into the female fitting on top of the 100 tank.
    Regards,
    Kerophile.

    Hi KP

Interesting, interesting - I think it's an excellent design feature which probably should have been more widely adopted.

Hasag/Bat & Høvik Verk also used this idea on some of their models
