Hi guys my Christmas present 8R rebuild hit a bump today.

I went to replace the SRV pip with a fettle box replacement but found it always leaked under pressure (Hot water method). I found that the pip being 4.5 mm diameter was moving in the hole which measured at 4.9 mm causing it to move forward of the seat.
I remachined a new one with a 4.5 mm seat hole. Works like a charm now.
    Regards Peter.

Was that a Fettlebox NRV pip? They are available at 4 & 4.5mm. The SRV pip in the 123 kit is bigger.

NRV pips don't fit. I make SRV pips and they are 5 mm.

    G'day guys
    Yes it's a Fettle box pip 4.5mm.
I guess until you open up the valve you don't know what you have, I'm Lucky to have a lathe. It took me more time to find a 4.5mm drill than machining the holder.
