An Optimus No. 00. Set is in great condition, no dents on stove or tin. Comes with tin, tank, spanner, prickers & envelope, roarer burner, flame spreader & the windshield. Sadly the latch is missing and there was no spirit can nor instructions with the set. I have put the date at 1950's. The ones from the 1930's - 1940's had a different latch & had the word 'Patent' printed on the tank, see this link —> here. This stove has neither of those, making me believe that it's a later version, but not as late as the 60's. The ones that were made in the 60's had slightly simpler graphics on the tin, see this link —> here. Tin is in very good condition, graphics are beautiful. Inside is clean. The tank still has the beautiful graphics, very clear. Optimus No. 00 - Optimus - Made in Sweden (along with Arabic writing). Underside marked AB Optimus Uppl. Väsby - Made in Sweden Spanner Optimus Made in Sweden. Burner marked Optimus Sweden, with Arabic writing that I'm not able to reproduce on this computer. Items put in tin. The tank was in really good condition, some pitting on tank (mostly underside). I had to replace the tank cap gasket, otherwise no problems. Added meths to the spirit cup, she lit first try. Blue & steady flame without the kettle on. This was the first try I'd come across an Optimus 00 in real life, she was brought home for £10. Didn't try to haggle down the price. She worked really well for the short time it took to boil water for tea. I can see why it's a classic - a tank that stands out (in shape), a colorful tin & a heavy wrench. One thing I could't figure out was why the spanner had 2 openings, the larger ones is useless, and doesn't fit any nut on the stove. Frank
I forgot to add the pictures of the tin in my previous post. The genuine Swedish Optimus Aktiebolaget Optimus Upplands-Väsby Sweden & finally the envelope for the Prickers (of which 1 still remains). Thanks for reading, Frank
That is a beautiful stove, burns perfectly. The tin is in fantastic shape. I have had the same stove, just badged as a Primus 210. I remember the spanner also being dubious. I got a metric spanner at a car boot sale I found to be a proper fit and cut it down shorter than the original spanner. I'd had to re-solder the joint at the top of the tank & didn't ever want to stress it. The 00/210 is the perfect size. Am having deviant ideas of one with a #1 roarer burner........
This is left to us by my uncle. I rescheduled it today. Its history may be longer than yours. It may be in the 1930s or 1940s. But the stove was no longer found.
Hi @tauyyy your Op. 00 stove case likely dates from the 1920s: Optimus No:00L - 1920's Best Regards, Kerophile
