PLEASE HELP HI, I have a problem with my Old Hipoloto No 1 Richaud Kero Primus Stove. I need to remove the tiny kero jet as in trying to clean it have got fine wire broken off in it ANY IDEAS HOW TO GET IT OUT?? OR CLEAN IT OUT?? It is a tiny jet in the midst of the U shaped gas? channels with no room to get a tool in. App 1/8" across with 2 straight sides. works very well otherwise. PLZ HELP -Peter
@petermuscovy The nipple (as it is called; sometime jet) is a bugger to get out without the special tool. You can try a bent shafted small spanner, but the tool makes it much easier. The tool looks like this: https://fettlebox.co.uk/nipple-jet-key-for-roarer-burners.html Cheers Tony
Or, since the Fettlebox (preferred source) appears to be out of stock, some eBay or google search along the lines of PRESSURE STOVE UNIVERSAL JET REMOVING SPANNER PRESSURE STOVE BURNER JETS NIPPLE should get you what you need.
Sometimes you can get lucky and get a jet out with a 4mm or 5/32 inch wrench and nimble finger work. It all depends on the position the jet ended up in after it's final tightening. If the burner tubes are blocking access then a swivel head jet wrench is an absolute must have and of course they are good to have around as part of your fettling tool kit.
THANKS TO ALL Have found one on ebay 2 pound & 5 pound delivery no less One last Question Please IS THE THREAD ANTICLOCKWISE? Peter
Thanks Ray, one last thought - It seems I have a memory from a lot of years ago of a "primus pricker" or such. A little wire gadget for 'pricking' or cleaning the 'jet' hole in situ. Could find nothing on 'The Fettle Box' (Thanks Alefoot) IS THERE SUCH A GADGET - ANY IDEAS ??? Peter
G'day @petermuscovy and welcome to CCS, The jet aperture on your stove should be 0.32mm (about 0.013") . They are available on ebay or you can make your own out of size 10 steel guitar strings. here is a link to a post on making them. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/pricker-wires.21562/#post-356610
