This outfit was put together by the US Tilley distributer Thacker & features the CS56 & X246 lantern. This is a new, old stock item. It's missing the 12" reflector for the lamp.

Is the lady given as spare part?

Hey Ross, you shouldn't have postes the last picture. It draws our attention to other matters.

Now a serious question: why are those tilley stoves so tall? Rising tube section can be shorter...

Not really, Sefa - the CS56 uses a shortened version of the same type of vapouriser as the Tilley lamps and lanterns, rather than the more conventional roarer or silent burner seen on the majority of stoves.

The burner head sits on top of the vapouriser which, from memory, is itself about 8-10 cm tall - hence the height of the stove.

I like my CS56, although it's not one I'd use with any frequency. I've a spare vapouriser for it but they're not readily available these days, not even on eBay UK. I might have it out on Tuesday for a quick brew-up with Trevor...
