Trivet?? or not to trivet

I see in some of the classic model stoves a Trivet plate on some stoves and on others you don't see them.

I don't know if trivet is the right word, but the grill portion of the stove where the pan/pot or kettle rests upon to cook.

On a 'classic' were these grills ( trivet/plate......)
commonly supplied with the stoves or were they considered add-on's ?

Does this vary from stove maker or possibly from year to year from the same maker?

again curious,

georgi
