I'll be interested in hearing how the high base works for you. I've seen these on ebay, but not up close. It looks like the iron will sit higher off the flame with the high base, I wonder if they will take longer to cook. It may work out better as the flame will have less concentration in the center. I noticed on my waffle run that the centers of the waffle were much darker than the edges. Keep us posted.
