I also have the following notes I took several years ago, from a book at the library, "A Picture History of Mountaineering" by Ronald W. Clark, (1956), illustration # 334: "Some of the scientifically designed, light-weight kit used by the successful 1953 Everest Expedition."
my notes:
"[Photo shows, among other things, a cook kit, beneath which can be seen the bottom of a stove. Not identified, but looks like a Primus No.5.]"
