Thanks for the links, Gordon. I'd already found Byron's site.
The set my son and wife have is the type with the lipped lid for piling coals on top of. I haven't yet bought or shopped for any myself.
I did notice on the site that I visited that cooking with charcoal bricquets was described, as you do to. I see the practicality of this, but now am wondering about the "purity" of this method at the campsite. Typical retrohead thinking process! I think we'll bring bricquets along next time as a campfire "supplement".
