Mierly curious as to if and how many camping stoves are actualy made from stainelss steel.

Notably there are certain parts of most stoves that are stainless steel, such as the burners and such.

Any comments?

Off the top of my head I know of the Simon alcohol stove & the British Military No:12.
I think the Sigg version of the Trangia maybe stainless steel.

Thanks for the reply.

I managed to find a picture of a British military #2.

Accordig to the text (stove collector) it's simualar to the M 12.

I'm still looking for a M #12 pic.

Any one have a M #2 and or M #12 for sale?

Thanks again.

No:12

August 17 2003, 6:06 PM

I gave a picture of a No:12 to the stove collector for his data base & some No:2 info for his case study. There is also a picture of a 12 in the Collectors Galleries here courtesy of Norman Harrod, one of the stoves I supplied.
The No:2 & No:12 are very different - I wouldn't want a No:2 as a gift!
If I find any I'll ley you know but they are heavy & postage to Canada will be high, although I have sent over 20 No:2's & around 6 No:12's to the USA over the last few years.

Thanks for the reply.

I agree that the #2 is not all that impressive.

However Stainless steel stoves are indeed rare.

I seen the #2 in the gallery. Still looking through for the #12.

Again many thanks.

I'm mierly trying to complete my collection. At least for this year.

Number 12 stoves

August 17 2003, 11:11 PM

I have been looking for a number 12 for over two years. They are not common at all on Ebay. I have Pete Wilson scouring the hinterlands for one but so far to no avail. Number 2s however are relatively common showing up every couple of months. If anyone has one they want to pass on, let me know.
Another military stove I would like to acquire is the german Geniol. Bart used to offer them on his site but he has been inactive for quite a long while.

The #12 interests me due to the fact that's composed mostly of stainless steel.

I agree with spiritburner that the #2 is not very interesting. It's not much more than a heavier Coleman
tourist model style stove with a single burner.

Though it would make a nice hunting camp stove.
