It's not that you are getting older. Your real problem is that over the years your gear has absorbed moisture from the air, dirt and sand and some general purpose grime. Ever notice you can never get all the sand out of your gear? Just think of all the nooks and crannies that probably have even more sand that you haven't found. Those tube frames on backpacks trap sand air and moisture, a bad combination if you ask me.
It all adds up. Believe me, I have the same problem.
No, you're not older, things just get heavier over time.

When i set up my fishing kit, i normally stick my maglite behind my ear. If people can do that with cigarettes, pens and pencils, than what's wrong with maglites?
I know that people have different ears, but it works ok for me as long as i don't make any very sudden movements.
