Cleaning Burner heads.

I have a couple of silent burner heads for 5s, and some roarers to put on them, that I want to clean.

I fancy trying the ageressive approach suggested elsewhere, heat them red hot and plunge in a dilute mixture of water and acid.

Not having done this before can anyone answer a few questions ?

1. Not having access to a forge, would the burner heads get hot enough in a well lit pile of BBQ fuel ?

2. Can you clean the silent burner domes and roarer spreader rings in the same way ?

Cleaning Burner Heads

I took Alberts advice on cleaning stoves and soak brass parts in a citric acid solution for a while (I get mine in powder form from a local home brewing store), then rinse in a bicarb solution (to kill any residual acid). The brass is very easy to clean up after that. Check the links on this site for Albert and he gives full details.
