Hi Newbie here Just thought I'd share some shots of my Blaxburner. Inherited it from my grandfather a few years ago and stuck it in the loft but recently developed a paraffin fixation (a selection of oil lamps, hurricane lamps and a Tilley have lead me to pressure stoves too) Anyway just back from a camping weekend with the blaxburner but forgot to photo it in action so here goes. Full kit with nice condition box Label is nice and clear After a quick pre heat Silent burner with nice pattern Windscreen is a bean tin and I've made an aluminium outer screen to protect around the saucepan.
Hi Ed, Baxburner stoves were marketed by a company called Blacks of Greenock (Scotland), up until the 1960/70s. Blacks are a camping and outdoor activities specialist. They did not manufacture stoves, but re-labelled East German BAT stoves, and later stoves made in S. Africa by Chalwyn. Best Regards, Kerophile.
I'm not sure how old this is But packaging is 1970's looking. I always thought that maybe my grandparents had it as a back up for early 70's powercuts. As noted in the other Blaxburner in this section earlier ones are good quality later ones less so. I'm very new to this but this seems well put together. Nice clean soldering and well fitting parts. I'm more inclined to think its German than SA
Hi Paulk, I think your Blaxburner is essentially identical to this one: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/7123 It seems to have many similarities to these BAT stoves: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/7164 https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/14540 Best Regards, Kerophile.
Yep I was just looking at the BATs and thought they seemed familiar Anyone know where to get a Burner to tank washer from as it needs a hefty turn on the spanner to stop it weeping
