So I just picked this 111T up a few days ago. I removed the spindle changed the graphite, put a new pump o-ring and cleaned the jet. I run it on K-1 and it’s going strong except that the top row of the burner has no flame. Anyone might know the reason for this? Just an additional shot boiling some water
@Nico Check that your inner and outer caps are sitting flat on the burner; make sure you’ve got enough pressure in the tank, and that the control wheel is in the maximum burn position and the jet is clear. Cheers Tony
@Nico I can just about make out a lower 4th tier of flamelets. A photo eye-level with the burner would be more revealing. If the a row of holes aren’t actually blocked there’s no way that a combustible fuel-air mixture shouldn’t emerge from them. That said, a mixture low on fuel content (a ‘lean’ mixture) can result in peculiar flame effects, as can fuel starvation when the fuel tank is almost empty. John
Oh my! Do I feel stupid! When @presscal said ''A photo eye level'' I when out and fired it again to take an 'eye-level' shot. So when I looked at that new angle, I could see 4 rows of blue dot flames but when I look from up I would see the invisible (gas) part between the burner and blue flame which gave me the impression it had the top row not ''working'' I'm sorry for waisting all you guys time!
Time on CCS chatting with a stove pal is never a waste of time. It can be deceptive, judging from above which row of holes flamelets are emerging from, coupled with the fact that only the tip of the flamelets are visible, with that little gap of invisible unburned vapourised fuel separating them from the burner cap. John
Yes exactly John, I use my 199 every morning and afternoon to make coffee but It's sitting on a jewellers table at almost eye level so I never had that optical illusion play this trick on me. The 111 I've only had for a few days and used it while hunting...It's on the ground and I watch it from an approximate 45 deg angle. Funny thing is that the more power I gave the 111, the more rows disappeared! After you told me about eye level I finally understood the ''problem''. The 111T is a beast by the way!
