Hi guys I’m hoping someone will be able to advise me on a problem with my 442 . When pumped and lit it works fine but once I’ve packed it away and come to use it again there’s fuel in the bottom of the carry container having leaked from the stove I can’t fathom out what the problem is Any advice would be greatly received.....Thanks in advance folks
It’d have to be stored with the filler area submerged in fuel to make that the cause of a fuel leak. I suspect the schrader valve in the fuel pickup. Any residual pressure from a stove firing or self-pressurising of the fuel due to temperature fluctuations in storage will push fuel to and through the jet.
Too really fix leak replace valve found at auto store. Some folks may suggest to drain tank after use to solve the leak problem too. I never drain fuel from tank, but I do store upright and with fill cap just barely snug so any self-pressurising will have an escape path. Like presscall said fill cap is above fuel level unless tank is over filled or on its side. Stay safe

Did a little more poking around the web and found that A/C schrader valves are made of HNBR (nitrite) rubber and one can get high temp blue or brown viton schrader if you look for them. Stay safe
Ive found all 3 of my Colemans will leak a little if left with no pressure in the tank. I leave them pressurized and they are fine. Also re leaving fuel in them. This is something I do but common theory is that when you pump a stove you introduce some moisture which can rust a steel tank. My 442 was purchased with extensive rust in the tank to the point it was leaking in many places.
