This 3 burner was produced in Wichita in model years 1951-53. It has nearly the same features as the 426, with a redesigned case. The fuel tank, valve and generator unit is just about the only difference between the 426A and later 426B.
Very nice unit. Can I ask what the difference is between the 426A and the 446B as to me they look the same but different model numbers. Thanks.
I don't have a 446B (or any Canadian stoves), but looking in the Guide to Vintage Coleman Products book, it seems that the 1973-75 446B very closely resembles the 1965-80 U.S. 426D. The 446B lid is not smooth like the 426A, the fuel tank is not cylindrical, there are no retractable legs, just oval "feet", there is a heat shield below the burners...it's a later model stove. Here's a 426D:
Okay, thanks for the info! In your opinion, which is the better fuel tank? The round copper coloured one or the red one?
Since they both do the job quite well, I guess it all comes down to aesthetics. The red one is a newer design and doesn't have to be tipped on end to fuel, and has a set of "feet" stamped on the bottom to keep it from rolling around. But the bronze tank version has the classic 1930's to 50's Coleman color and design. Red is nice though...
