Hi All, somewhere else on the galery are some more photo's of my 520, here are some more. I tried to take a photo of the stampings in the fount, but it is not clear enough. Anyway, it reads:

    U.S.ARMY
    M'fd in Belgium

As you can see, the text on the decal is French, also on the potholder legs the text is in French. Earliest possible date would be 1945, before that we had our neighbours visiting for 4 years  . My guess is, the Coleman factory had these made in Belgium for the U.S. army (maybe at that time still fighting in Germany, or perhaps later for the troops that stayed on in Germany) but also sold these to the French army, with french text replacing the english ones. Has anyone ever seen one of these before? BTW, this one's a 3-legger.

    Interesting stuff.

Is the case aluminum or steel?

Wow very interesting stove!

Thanks for sharing it with us.

The French would need this stove for the French Indochina War maybe, which it got into shortly after the war. :-k
And of course the Western Allies and the Soviet Union were not on the best of terms at the time. Belgium came out of the war with a limited extent of damage. :-k :?

    Interesting indeed.

Thanks for showing us the stove Wim. Nice. Makes me wonder what other countries built the 520. I'd like to find one made in Sweden! ;)

Great stove Wim and I bet this is rare. I new the 520 was made in collaboration with other companies but it would be nice to find out what other countries it was made in. Could it have been tooled in the US and put together in Belgium?

Hi Itchy, the case is made of steel. (I don't think I'll ever use it to cook food in it!).

Hi Den, I haven't the slightest idea, but it says "M'fd" (manufactured) not assembled. But maybe in "american" english they do mean the second? My guess is the burner & pump would be Coleman production, and the stampings etc. of local manufacturing. But what ever way, I do like this stove, it performs pretty good! 8)
