Had this for some time, but finally got round to firing it up. The entire kit is present and correct including the spare burner. There is a cookset available that I don't own - it comes in another box around the same size and I have nowhere to store it. It's impressively loud!
Gad zooks man! Pretty! Can't wait till you get the pot supports. Can't wait to see what the boil time on a quart of water is!
Cool! Does yours still work if you open up one of the burners completely? I have one of these stoves, but both of the burners work only well till the valve is halfway open. If you open it up all the way the flame goes yellow, and it starts fireballing me. (an impressive sight by the way on a stove this large) Jan-Willem
Hi Jan-Willem, You know, I can't be sure that I tried it all the way up, and certainly not just on one burner. Whilst the pictures were taken in broad daylight and therefore don't reflect the true magnificence of the violence on offer, I think I probably only turned it up as far as the setting labelled "Impressive bordering on scary" Still, "He whose stoves don't blow away, lives to light another day"
Hey, 111T, This stove's pot support, which is huge, is not meant for small pot, but rather a correspondingly huge stainless steel "tank", sort of like a massive pressure cooker! I'm not sure how one would to about boiling just a quart of water on this Beast of a stove!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Stunning piece of kit you have there chap , Fair puts my ex military no3 cook set to shame ,by any chance would you happen to know of any "retailers" in the UK ,that might have them for sale at all ?? ( i own a old series land rover ,and often cook for a decent sized group of hungry land rover owners out in the wilds ,and that looks to be absolutely ideal for the job (well it's the best justification for owning some extra cooking gear that i can come up with ,hang on i think that the land rovers came after the cookers )
Greetings, All, Chuck and I have been talking about this huge Behemoth of a Swiss stove, recently. Should anyone need the proper cook set/windscreen setup, please check out "go-surplus" on FleaBay. Got them for around $25, plus shipping. It's a five gallon, massive cooking container, and a proprietary windscreen/pot stand. I'm checking out a stainless steel oil drip pan for underneath my own Swiss Behemoth and windscreen!! Just the ticket to keep from burning anything underneath, me thinks. I may also set that on top of a bit of plywood, too, just to be safe! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Hi Mr Rice Man, I'm not aware of anyone selling these in the UK. Although they are of Swiss origin most of the ebay sellers seem to originate in Germany. Do an advanced search on "Schweizer Benzinkocher" and make sure you expand the ebay sites to European Union - you'll see loads of these offered for sale, some BIN and others straight auctions. Cheers, Graham.
Graham , Many many many thanks for the info you posted above , searched as you suggested ,and i have just emailed a couple of sellers to see what they can do as far as posting to the uk.So looks promising so far Might end up buying one and the stand/pots to suit too ,as it looks like a serious bit of kit . Having done some work to my ex-british army no3 burner, and having used it on several occasions. I am in total respect of any of the catering corps that managed to tame the damn things enough to cook a meal for a group of hungry blokes .A mate of mine has the single burner and that seems almost tame by comparison, and as for the no1 burner ,well if i find one of those to have a play with i will die (possibly in the process) a very happy chappy . But then there is the sankey based field kitchen .....IF i could find a petrol powered one of those ,then i am parting with one of these damn kidneys ....... Thanks again Graham Top work
Hello, I recently aquired one of these stoves and Doc tipped me off to http://go-armynavy.com/ Ask for Eddie. He has the stove complete with the cookset for sale through the website but, I found $249.00 for the whole thing to be a little high. Ask him to sell you the pressure cooker by itself. I paid $25.00 and close to $20.00 to have it shipped. The stove alone without the cookset is available from http://www.colemans.com for $75.00 plus shipping. ($15.00 for me from PA to NJ) The stove comes complete with a spares kit, tools and the wooden crate. The shipping weight was 52 lbs. I am in the process of translating the manual from German into English. Like Doc states the cooker is huge. The stove itself is nothing small but, the cooker just makes the entire setup something to see. I am going to get mine going in the next week or so and post some pics. Chuck
HI Chuck, How did you make out with your swiss cooker? Any action shots yet? I am thinking about buying the set and wanted to see what you thought about yours after you played with it a bit? Doc, Have you had a chance to fire yours up yet? Thanks in advance for your comments. Take care, Dan
Cooking with militar swiss stove at Sky ressort La Molina (1700m high) last saturday. I bought this windshield, 15 liter pot, 25 liter pot, some pans and thermo cases too. It's the perfect camping cook set for a 15 to 30 persons team.
I've been meaning to buy 15/25L stands and pans for mine. May as well while they are available. My experience building up a complete set for the Army No.1 over the last few years has taught me to buy the damned things while you have time/free funds available! Alec.
Hi, Here is where the stove can be found. https://colemans.com/shop/camping-gear/food-cooking/swiss-military-portable-double-burner-unit/ http://go-armynavy.com/military-sur...military-pressurized-double-burner-stove.html If you are interested in one of the Swiss double burners you will also need to get the rectangle shaped pot stand along with the utensils for this stove. Granted one can get inventive with the utensils. go-armynavy.com does have the pot stand for this Swiss stove or did so it is best to give him a call. Most likely he still has some since he is still selling the stove. I would like to find some pots and pans for my stove, but haven't been able to find any so if any of you know where I can get the pots and pans for this stove please let me know. Cheers, Norman
@pau-i-amor , @presscall means to ask what fuel you are using? Regular automotive gasoline or naptha/coleman fuel? I used mine on automotive gasoline only once, drained the tank but didn't flush the burners, the next time I came to use it about 6 months later it was suffering from semi-choked fuel lines/deposits. I got mine clean by heating/quenching and flushing through. Only used clean fuel/naptha since. Alec.
@Rangie @pau-i-amor Yes, that's what I was getting at, whether it's usable (by which I mean reliable) on auto gasoline. Apparently not. John
Oooops!!! Excuse my poor English! I use to burn Heptano. I'ts like essence blanche or fuel Coleman... But, I know that this stover burns auto gasoline too. I use to lend this stove for summer camps. In this cases, cookers burn auto gasoline.
