I'm still not a fan of petrol stoves but this was too nice to pass by excuse the auction pics but its still on its way to me just have to locate a 111 now and my old 22 will be able to pose in family shots. As I'm unsure of the designations these suitcases go by is anyone able to date this one? I assume its a late one by the key type control
This little brother will compliment your other Optimus suitcase stoves, congrats. I understand the advantages of Kerosene but personally I prefer anything petrol. Not a fan of the smell of Kerosene. I'd guess late 70's -80's on your 8r based on the stickers and key. Cheers, Jerry

Nice score @Garth . They are a great little stove to carry for a quick tea/coffee or light meal. Just remember to open the cap to equalise pressure before priming (not during as you will loose the hairs off your hand ).
I like the 8r, I only have a Russian clone , it is a good user ,I keep it in the car with my Primus 41. It is good for the quick cupper. The 41 does bigger jobs. I do have a Primus 8 which is just as good but no pricker. The clone is just as good maybe not put together as well but functions just as well. You will get good use with your stove, great condition and appearance. Cheers Rob
Id love a 111 as most of my stuff is kero ( don't get many fuel choices with Tilley devices but how much fuel can a tiny thing like an 8r use my only other petrol device,a zip camp stove is unbelievably greedy but powerful with it I've been offered a Korean 8r clone in need of repair I may yet grab it I reckon optimus bits may fit it
8r finally arrived apart from a slight spindle leak which was easily cured it works very well lid seal was still soft I doubt its been used a lot must see if I can find an old style control for it as that key can be challenging to refit when a pot or kettle is perched on the stove . its very tidy no thanks to the makers not a lot of paint on it, inside its see through thin and one of the tank supports has been missed during painting but it will stay like this untill it really needs paint
After complaining about the price of coleman fuel here over $20.00 per litre i stumbled upon a cleaning supplies place nearby who sell fuelite .Same fluid different name for $5.00 per litre thats less than the cheapest kero so bought 2 4 gallon containers of the stuff 5 gallon to americans should take a while for a tiny 8r to consume all of this
Despite having a few rarities the optimus ones are my go to ,no fuss stoves they just work well and are very reliable
