Being a pretty nice day for December, even for Tucson, I had to play with my new Trangia HA25. I also bought a Chinese no-brand gassie attachment to run on remote butane. It fit loosely, but well enough to work OK. Lit right up no problem. I'll try the brand new Trangia burner another time. It's not my first.
Lunch was pancakes and a small 4 Oz tail assembly from a Sockeye Salmon.
First I used that 3-sided wire thing to hold up my thrift store HA kettle. Didn't clock it, but got a pint up to steaming hot in no time. Brewed a cup of Tesco Scott's Expeditionary Blend. Stout stuff.
Then some corn oil in the frypan. I used up some leftover batter from last night's attempt at Yorkshire Pudding. Surprisingly, the pancakes were flatter and denser than normal American flapjacks. I may have blundered into crepe territory. What ever I made, they went down very well with a generous smear of Wild Maine Blueberry jam, Scandinavian-style.
I rubbed pink salt and ground pepper into the flesh side of the Salmon. Fried it skin side down first, then flipped.
In keeping with the Swedish gear theme, I used a Wildo Camp-a-Box, and OD plastic Kuksa from the Eimannskokk. Couldn't spork it alone. Had to cheat and get a real knife.
Unfortunately, I may have scorched the center of my brand new HA pan. Too hot a fire, and a moment's inattention sorting the fish part out.
    Had fun all the same.
    Merry Christmas, all. DSC00527.JPG DSC00528.JPG DSC00531.JPG DSC00532.JPG DSC00534.JPG
