I bought this recently for a fiver and I'm hoping to restore it without spending too much more! seals need replacing, new legs are needed and obviously the whole thing needs a polish. I thought I had a pump issue but last night fiddling it suddenly started getting pressure so I'm hoping it is ok.

Not sure what the 10K stamp signifies.

Is Esso Blue still available? I've been using Parasene not sure if that is the best...

the pump has had a couple of washers added which perhaps means I need a new one.

The pump tube all looks ok hope so as removing it might test my soldering skills.

For a fiver you got yourself a real bargain.
I would enjoy restoring that stove.

They are a great stove, do you have the inner cap for the burner?

You can cut down some tent pegs as stove supports to get you up and running (89p for ten in B&M).

Inner Cap? mmm maybe that is why it isn't burning quite the way it should! This is all there is under the Outer cap:-

    Should there be more?

    Hi Harry,

Have a look at some of the Valor 55's in the gallery Link and you will see examples of the inner cap. It's the doughnut shaped steel ring that fits below the burner cap. They can be bought from Basecamp or picked up at boot fairs. If you see a cheap stove at a boot fair, it's often worth getting as a donor stove for spares.

    Regards,
    Terry
