Ok, So i just bought a M1942 US military stove and its leaking.... When i bought it, everything was in pieces and I spent the last day putting it back together. So once everything was together I'm smart enough to check to see if it hold pressure before I throw some fuel in it. Anyways I fixed a few small leaks and there is a main leak on the pump. It seems to be coming out of one of the 2 holes (Stuck it underwater). Everything is in it position including the oring. What am i Missing
G,,day , I don't know which two holes you mean as I do not have a M-1942 , but if the leak is coming from the pump , it is most likely a faulty non return valve (NRV) usually a new Viton or Nitrile pip will fix the problem . there are many bits of information on here regarding NRV,s . the NRV is on the bottom of the pump tube . cheers kerry
ok , but the air maybe coming from the tank back up the tube because of faulty NRV . or there is a o ring or seal missing which seals the pump tube to the fount (tank). if after pumping pressure into the fount ,the pump rod comes back out on its own , it is NRV. if it doesn't , it is a missing or faulty seal. kerry
I believe it is the o ring that seals the removable tube to the pump cap. Does anyone know anyone that would have a few replacements?
There is a gasket that goes under the tube part where it mates with the tank. That is where it is leaking from. Ross at the fettle box has a 42 repair kit that has everything you need gasket wise to get it running. Or if you are in the states old coleman parts has the same gaskets and pips. There really is not much as far as seals on these. You have the gasket for the filler tube, the NRV pip and a graphite packings in the valve and the tip cleaner. Do not try to disassemble the tip cleaner its a witch. Mack
If your NRV is leaking you will no it once you can get pressure to stay it will shoot fuel up the pump tube. Mack
I tried repairing the NRV and put it back correctly just like the pictures show, and guess what, now whenever I try to pressurize the tank, it seems to be sucking air out of the tank.
The pip has to go up against the pump tube and the spring in the lil hex screw. Sounds like you have it backwards. Mack
I had it against the pump tube, it was the pump, the small rubber, the small metal piece, the spring then then NRV which led to the tank, I ordered the seals off the store. Hopefully will get them soon.
When i get these stoves I routinely replace all the seals and pips even if they seem to work I want to know when they were put in. Mack
