    I have a svea 123 (not 123R) stove. Inside the fuel valve assembly there is a space for packing that keeps the fuel from leaking past the valve stem. Looks like you would remove the valve stem, place the packing in and push it gently until it falls into the space, then slide the valve stem through it and screw the valve stem into the fuel valve assembly. I can't seem to find this part anywhere, all I'm seeing are rebuild kits for the 123R. Without this part my stove is useless, hope someone can help me.

    Hello and welcome to CCS!

    You are looking for a graphite valve stem packing. There are two options: Either you buy one or you make the packing yourself.
    You can search this site for graphite sheets (I think that is the term used).

    Or, if you want to buy one try fogas.se who should have it in stock. See http://www.fogas.se/shop/2372---boxpackning/

    Good luck!

    Edit: Choice of options... Ain't that great!

    @Terry

    The illustration for the valve system on the 123 is here:

    The graphite packing is part 9411.

    If your packing is lacking, you could wind some graphite thread or sheet around the shaft of the regulating spindle and reinsert it, the tighten the packing nut sufficiently to get a good seal (do not over tighten - but sometimes you need to adjust it if a flame appears.

    If you don't have graphite you can get some from @Trojandog in Member Services - or through the bay of evil...

    Good fettling - I love my 123.

    Cheers

    Tony

    Hi there,
    Fortunately I have both part numbers noted down in my rather ancient MOD form 383A notebook, the part number for the 80, 71 and 123 is 2091= graphite packing and for the 123R, 8R and British army gasoline stove number 7 is=2094.
    I would check out the Base camp website and send them an email in the first instance, it would be a crime against humanity if that stove becomes junk, after all it will provide heat for many cups of tea/coffee and hot meals for those times to come and makes a lovely hand me down for a young person to use and appreciate.
    John.

    Thanks for the info John! I had a graphite packing for the 123R that was too big. I trimmed it to where I could basically stuff it inside the fuel stem assembly then tightened down the packing nut. Replaced the jet and replaced the wick with cotton strands from a mop I just bought. Stove ran like a champ last night! Little leak at the packing nut but just kept tightening until it stopped. You talk about some pressure from this little stove!! Love it and it will get plenty of use next spring, summer and fall!!
