Joediver - I just realized one more thing about the check valve and spring. One of my stoves had the original cup, but no spring. As I mentioned, I experimented with springs, but apparently didn't find one I liked. So, instead I used an M1950 spring, cup and gasket. I've had that installed in the pump for a year or so and when I think about it, it works fine and there's no reason it shouldn't. Those parts on the pump itself (the threaded hex-head fitting and the piece into which it threads, are the same as those on the M1950 pump. Try that if you can't find a suitable spring. I updated my blog post to reflect this. BTW - which stove do you have; Aladdin, Prentiss Wabers or Coleman?

Thank you SKLColorado. Sorry for the delay. I will try to locate the parts for the M1950 as they appear to be more common. My stove is an Aladdin. Have you found the makers to all be the same relative to quality and reliability?

Joediver - No difference in quality from what I can tell and the same goes for reliability. Once I get one up and working the only thing I've had problems with is that check valve (NRV) seal. I run Coleman fuel in them, not regular gasoline. Gasoline seems to really clog vaporizer screens. I have/had 4 Prentiss Wabers (PW), 1 Coleman (C-A) and 1 Aladdin. Most differences are cosmetic. The one difference I noticed recently was that the stainless steel disk which mates the vaporizer to the valve body is different. The PW has a taller top-hat (this is what I'm calling it), and has a sharp edge which cuts into the vaporizer, while the Aladdin has a shorter top-hat and a beveled mating surface which is "nicer" to the vaporizer. The taller PW disk makes it easier to locate suitable replacement vaporizers. But, on the other hand, if the vaporizer doesn't get that wear ring cut into it on the Aladdin, you should be able to clean it all up and reuse it. The M1950 was made from 1951 through 1987, so yes, there are lots of them out there (I have a bunch myself along with some spare parts). Finding the M1950 check valve cup with spring isn't always easy, so if you can't find one locally, let me know. I'm sure I've got an extra one.
