As the caption under the photo on the page you linked to says, it flares up. Which is what I would expect, given that this little strip is not nearly going transfer enough heat. Flaring is the issue with running an inverted cannister.

    Oh, I forgot.
It was written in the instructions. The flaring was part of the priming. Because there is no generator there was a time to vaporize the fuel. At least that is the way I remember it. It was quite stable after the start.

I did that project before my time in CCS. I don't use canister stoves much anymore, and not in the cold at all.

Stijn, glad my experiments were helpful to you. I took some heat back when I was going through the discovery process and asking a lot of questions but my hope was that the findings would be beneficial not just to me but for others as well.

Curiosity got the best of me (no surprise), so I ordered a GoSystem Adapt, knowing that the rigid fuel line is angled too low to use it with a Clickstand. Gave it a quick try and sure enough, it's very easy to simmer with the canister inverted. Definitely on par with the Kovea Spider, if not better. Next up is to heat the rigid line with a torch and attempt to bend it to a shallower angle. Wish me luck.

@Knotty Bending a pipe can be improved if you fill the pipe with sand rather than bending an empty pipe. It can reduce the possibility of a kink.
    Just saying!

@snwcmpr thanks. I'd try that but I believe the hose isn't detachable.

Heating the rigid fuel line damaged the connection with the flexible line and it came off. Suspected this would happen but threw caution to the wind and did it anyway. The plus is I learned that there's a stranded stainless cable inside the rigid line, which is probably why this stove doesn't pulse when the canister is inverted.

Any ideas on how to reattach the flexible line?

That hose is crimpcoupled onto the fueltube . I guess the flexible fuelline is some sort of rubber that can withstand the temperature? There might be some more seals within that crimp-sleeve - donno, but possible compressing that hose is all there is. So why did it come loose? Did heating the tube damage/shrink the hose within the sleeve? The hose end and crimpsleeve should be replaced. A temporary fix could be if you can re-attach the hose and find some crimptool/plier that can recrimp what you have. Companies that work with hydraulics is a source. Another possibility is if you know someone in the radiocommunication buisness. They use various sized crimp-pliers for their coaxial antenna cables. In the end I guess this is a question of how much time and efford one is willing to spend before accepting defeat.

I have adapted the Kovea Booster +1 aka Brunton Lander aka Edelrid Hexon burner into the Trangia cup like this

Fits into the Trangia std base without modifications. In the Triangle you have to grind a slot for the fuelline.

Thanks @haknuts . Yes the heat did damage the "rubber" hose in the crimp sleeve. Between the damage to the material and lack of access to what would probably have to be a very heavy duty crimper, I might have to look for a creative solution. Perhaps some high temp epoxy or glue or maybe an RTV silicone used to make engine gaskets.

Repaired the hose by applying J-B Weld epoxy to the male fitting and then inserting into the hose. It's rated to 550F/288C and is working fine so far. Hardly an elegant solution but hopefully it will hold up. J-B is impervious to gasoline and other fuels.

If I had to do this over, I'd just try to bend the rigid line using two wrenches. With the stainless wire inside, kinking the tube probably wouldn't happen. Question is how much force would it take to bend it?

Good to know there is a wire inside, I might try and cold bent mine as well, as it's currently just collecting dust.

Found this video but it does not use the GoSystem Adaptor but talks about use in liquefied mode in cold weather and resulting flare up.

This video shows the Original Trangia Gasburner insert, which I hapen to have as well. I suspect this pre-heating loop doesn't have a wire insert which makes it more prone to flare-ups. It's a solid bit of kit by Primus though and a nice combo with the Clickstand, if you don't need to run inverted bottles.

@Knotty and @Stijn -- thanks so much for your pioneering work! I think an ultra lightweight remote canister stove in combination with a Clikstand -- along with a propane converter for winter -- is an incredible system for people that need a user-friendly all-season setup.

I have a few questions for you.

    1) Are we certain that neither the new version of the Go System Adapt Stove nor it's Chinese alternative (the Bulin stove) fit in the Clikstand (gas version)? It's confusing because even this Ebay listing shows both the older Go System (silver tube) and the newer version (gold tube), making difficult to know which is being sold. To add to this confusion, this thread reviews the Bulin gas burner and describes flare ups in inverse canister mode. I'm not sure if that's the new or the old version of the Bulin stove.

    2) In order to adapt the Kovea Spider, you used the adaptor base from the Trangia gas burner (742527). For those of us who want to adapt the Kovea Spider for use in the Clikstand but don't already own a Trangia burner, what options do we have for an adaptor base? I tried emailing Trangia for replacement parts, I'll let you know their response.

    3) I have no information on whether the Rubens Fire Tick stove works in inverse canister mode nor do I know if it will fit the Clikstand, but it looks like a promising candidate. A trustworthy brand and very lightweight, too: 115 grams! Any thoughts? I'm awaiting an email response from customer service.

This seems like such a foolproof and obvious setup. I hope we can find a go-to stove!

Just responding to an older post, having spotted it had gone answered and it was a question I'd looked into myself as a potential adapter for my own Trangia 27.
Might not the Optimus adapter be a possibility like the one in ebay auction (not mine) 174099411418?
I looked at that possibility for my omnilite, but ended up picking up a genuine trangia multi fuel adapter from another auction.

Here is the adapter if you wanna use it with propane. Work good but don't use it at maximum power with propane it is to hot (too much). And no up side down.
