Here's an interesting stove that was offered for sale on Ebay a few months ago. It's made in the Syrian Arab Republic, by a company called Mohamad *eeb Kabbour & Co who manufactured all sizes of kerosene stoves. They claim they are the most famous industry of the Arab Industries. The tin has the words 'Cirus, Made in S.A.R.' on it along with arabic writing. (*I don't own this stove, I'm just posting it because it will be untraceably in a few months*) On the underside of the tin there's the address of the company. It's located in Damascus. Stove's marked (I presume Cirus?) No. 0. Syria. The tin is comparable with a Radius 21. I have no idea if it's larger or not. Here are the remaining pictures of the listing. The quality seems to be pretty high - the tin has highly attractive printing, & the stoves seems to be made of good quality brass as well. Wonder if there are any speakers of the Arabic languages on this forum & if so, if they could find out a little more about the stove & the company. Frank
Hi, Just proves my point: If there is a stove, and it is in a tin, Ross has it. Best Regards, Kerophile.
Ah, - so it was you! Congratulations on finding this stove in time, who knows, I might have put in a bid as well had I spotted this in time. Am looking forward to reading the full report on the stove! Frank
Interesting to read about that stove manufactured in that little town of Yabroud in Syria. The family factory was founded by Mohamad Deeb Kabbour ( asterisk= D) They produced good quality stoves but poeple bought the "Swedish one" when they wanted to have the best (...Primus) Rgrds Mudi
I'm a few years late posting! The stove was missing it's nrv & flame ring & the jet threads are shot. The jet falls out! Pretty sure the storage cap isn't original but it's part of it's history. I fitted a nrv & changed the filler cap seal. I've run it up with a compatible Optimus burner. @Doc Mark unedited phone pics
@Spiritburner , Ross, Lovely stove, and very lovely photos, too!! The unedited photos are excellent! And, truthfully, I prefer them, a bit. Still, the edited ones grab your eyes, and you can't help buy look!! Looking good either way, Mate!! And, this Arabian stove and tin is the Dog's B's, I'm thinking!! WOW!! Thanks for sharing this one, for both reasons!! Well done, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
