    Greetings to all,
    First time in front of Svea 123.
    Really impressed : solid brass, small and compact ....but one of my expensive deal : 38 USD.
    I receive stove without cup handle and even I don't use aluminum cup, I start look for best DIY replacement.
    Of course, first thing is to look in the kitchen....always you will find interesting things !
    Mine was : tea colander handle (D=2,5 mm).
    Starting with this, the chalange was to make handle :
    1. Functional and ergonomical;
    2. Heatproof;
    3. To not damage by scratches cup or stove body;
    4. To have ability to fix slippering cup from stove when you handle it from backpack.
    And because I don't have sophisticated tools, I agree for symple mode

    Thank You and
    Best regards.

    Very nice.

    That little cup is kinda silly IMHO. It does work good for scooping snow into a real cook pot.

    @david_lucian ,

    That is a really classy creation, Sir! Very nice and interesting photos, too. WELL done! As to the effectiveness of that cup, I admit that it works more as a cover for the stove, than anything else. BUT, we have used it in the past for tea, soup, and adult beverages. Since it's always with the stove, it lends itself to many other duties, too. We have used it for measuring ingredients, or for mixing dry herbs and spices for lots of different types of food. We have used it to scoop clean snow into a pot for melting into water. For unexpected guests, it makes a viable "extra cup". And, ala the great Colin Fletcher, we have used it as a "cup stand", though it can be somewhat precarious in this role. In any case, we love the SVEA aluminum cup, even if it is NOT optimum! Again, well done on creating a workable and classy handle, Sir!! Thanks for sharing, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Thank You,
    One of the most important is that (in my case) cup slide easy from stove shield, and if you pick up stove from bag or backpack, cup will detach easy...
    Of course, what is Svea 123 without cup !

    @david_lucian , I love solutions like this where everyday items are adapted to stove use. I particularly like the stripped electrical insulated tubing on the bend - nice finishing touch. I used a similar trick with insulated tubing as a replacement on a Trangia kettle handle.

    123R came about '73 or '74.
    Made in Sweden by Optimus.

    The cup seemed small to me until someone told me that you can add that amount, boiling, to other water and have it hot, or cook the meal ingredients concentrated and add other water for hot meal.

    :thumbup::thumbup: I'd call that an upgrade over the original handle!
