I learned that as a wee lad buying motorcycle parts. NGK part number BPR5ES(going from memory), $12 at the motorcycle shop. Same exact part number at the normal auto parts store, $3.
Given the way so much of the world is going these days I was thinking myself that stoves might not be the only ones that might find a padded cell a welcome place of sanctuary ...
@igh371 I've tried searching for 'mattress wallpaper' to no avail. I would reserve those spaces for those who weren't 'first against the wall when the revolution comes' @Ed Winskill (Sirius Cybernetics aka Amazon)
Oh dear, I'm sure to end up in a padded cell over this, but amongst all these rather gassie applications, the humble alcohol stove has a padded cell as well... Trangia EVA Carrying Case | Canadian Outdoor Equipment Co. I have heard back this week from Trangia, you can even use the padded case as a food rehydration cozy! Simmering on the cheap without fuel! Now, back to our padded cells....
@ArcticStoves I got one of those, and I really like it. And not nearly the price of the OR padded cell. Trangia Eva Case
I really like the dual use idea for rehydration, esp, for rice meals, benefitting from slow steaming. An overground pit oven if you like, clearly without the pit temps with red hot rocks. If you're worried about the plastic lining it's another use for the oven cloths that I experiemented with (and burnt) over the Coleman oven. Reverted to tinfoil for that.
Forum; Harder asked for a picture: The upper is my SVEA123 in an Optimus kit ...I realize the padded lunch bag is not absolutely necessary, as net bag certainly keeps it together, but if I need to take the container with additional fuel, it (along with a few other field kitchen essentials) all fits neatly into that padded inexpensive lunch bag. The lower is my Bluet Camping Gaz S206, with its exposed wires, it fits nicely into the round padded OR bag and is well protected. Cheers from Connecticut!
...I should have added...the Trangia fuel bottle shown is the smallest (300ml) size, and OR bag is one I had from years ago (for a water bottle)...if I was going to take the CG out seriously, I'd probably use a larger padded lunch bag for it also as it has the room for a spare gas cartridge and the folding wide-foot. I do prefer the concept of keeping the entire camp kitchen (for a one man trip anyway), including just about everything one might need (utensils, etc.) in one combined, and protected kit). Cheers
The Outdoor Research website is now closing out the Padded Cells for 50% off. Other outdoor gear sites are also featuring them at a discount. basil
No 3 & No 5 on the way. Ordered directly from OR. Even with shipping cost it was less than Campsaver or Backcountry. Anyone in the Seattle area should stop by the OR factory store. Thank you for the heads up. Ken
From my local 'bargain store'. Star wars bags with gel and shampoo for £1.99. I bought 5 while the Force was with me! It is reasonably well padded I took the logos off and its a good fit for original 'cornflower' Bleuet and spare canister, Campingaz C200, Primus 71, Optimus 80 etc.
