Help with MSR Pan Wires (the two-piece “X-pot stand)

Thanks to good help from @OMC - I am now the lucky owner of two older MSR G/GK.
I have been searching for the two-Piece “X-Panwire” version to replace the four individual legs/pot stands. But such a set seems to be made of unobtanium.



I have ordered two Titanium 3mm rods (50 cm long) in the hope of making my own copy - so if anyone either could point me to a shop still selling these X-panwires or help me with a drawing of them both - I would really appreciate it.
Same goes for the choice of Ti-rods - not knowing how they’ll be to work with yet. Any advice on bending 3mm Ti-rods?

@snwcmpr I was not sure if the SS rods I could get would be able to handle the heat. Price was almost the same.

 

Harder, I found a shop in the UK that sold MSR parts, got mine from there 5, 6 years ago.

Originally when I started looking for the older MSR XG/K - I thought the 4 x Single legs were the best. But now I definately prefer the X-version.
What are other users preferences?

Overall, I prefer the "X version". The 4 swiveling legs are easier to pack, but it's a pain when cooking because they shift with every movement of the pot, leading to spillage if they're not constantly managed.

Harder, I tend to go for older models (anything) and as of now have only one of the XGKs w/ "X" supports. I defer to others but comment re the old 4-support: on a NOS and 1 w/little use the 4 supports are stiffer and tend to stay in place (vs well-used ones swing freely).
Seeing that, I am wondering, when stove was new, was this less of a problem or non issue even? 4 legs that stay where you put them and pack easier/smaller... I'm not quick to give up on that option myself.
An effective "fix" to get the loose ones to again better hold a position would be a welcome development. I concede the point that if one has supports swinging loose, 1 good fix today is the X supports (if you can acquire a set?).

 

You know, I have to admit the floppy pot supports on those always sort of chafed.

Is there a good way (or even a bad way) to stiffen those up? Everytime I looked at that thing, maybe take it on a hike... "Nah..." The "X" system seems mo' bettah.

 

I actually "Stiffened" mine up by changing all 4 starlock-washers for a newer more tight version and then just very carefully squeezed the slot on the burner house where the pot legs run through. In order not to scruff the housing I used a flat piece of wood between the plier and the outside housing. (Its juuust a tiny squeeze). It actually works - For how long is yet unknown ;-)

 

Hm.. I think it's time to fettle up some coat hanger wire into something "X" usable. OMC kindly provided line drawings after all.
