I needed a strap for my 00 tin. Couldn't find any 3/4", aka 20mm flat hooks for the strap, so I purchased some ss 1 inchers. Had to file down the sides to make it fit in the slot. You can see where I ground on the left hook. I kind of ground down the rounded strap slot, but all went well:

Purchased some 1" elastic webbing, and had the wife sew it for me. Here's the result:

Instead of sewing a hook on each end, I had her make a loop, for a little more strength:

She stitched a square with an x in the middle.

Very happy how it turned out. I had some 1" olive drab webbing, and tried different buckles, but it turns out that the buckles for 1" webbing are just too darn big for it, so I went the elastic route.

Thanks man, I really like it a lot. I do need to get some cardboard to wrap the fount and burner in, to keep them from clanking around.

For users I've just packed in a few bits of bubble wrap.

Not exactly contemporary but it does the job.

Or.as I think @snwcmpr has previously suggested excess packtowel, which I think was always highly over rated.

The top of an over the calf sport sock ? They stretch pretty well and you can cut off the top and sew it shut on 1 end like an elastic sac . WR

I'll probably just go the cloth route, that makes sense to me to have a cloth handy for a spill, etc.
