Sorry, Mark, didn’t mean to contradict you. When I wrote that it was about the time I was revelling in Sefa’s provision of excellent leather pump cup washers and anything less than their performance got a thumbs down. In fact the Homestrand’s pump washer was one of the better ones I now see, with hindsight, and I got by with the stock pump arrangement until the stove went East from me (Germany) in a swap. Grease and not oil to lube it makes a lot of sense. John
Morning, John, No worries, at all. Like I wrote, if I used mine more, maybe a problem would manifest itself. A good test, for sure. I'll have to keep a weather eye on those rubber gasket, and see if something turns up. As for your stove, I don't blame you for using one of Sefa's outstanding pump leathers!! His stuff, was, and remains, top of the class, IMHO! Talk soon, and God Bless! Mark
Brief update on the 2nd stove mentioned above. I have decided it is probably the right hand fount from a Radius 12 two burner range. Two issues though are not resolved: the wing nut like filler cap and the fact the stove is unbranded. Interestingly, I have a photo from an online auction site, which I do not have permission to show, which has the same filler cap and fount on what appears to be a Radius 10 single burner stove. The filler cap is on the left side of the pump and is thus the matching unit for mine. The Radius 1939 lantern catalog in CPL shows a similar wing nut configuration filler cap for the models 101-103. The part number is 103/47 but the air release screw is slightly different It may well be a fount that was on an early version of the Radius 12 stove. It could of course be from a clone of that stove as would also be the one in the photo I possess. However, this would raise the question why more haven’t been found and who would have made them. I feel it more likely that Radius made them but somehow they are older. Restored with an Aladdin regulated burner but other parts original. The nickel plating is wearing a bit thin. The similar wing nut type filler cap from the Radius 1939 catalog. Courtesy of Bo Ryman and CPL Footnote: I have made a stove unit that this fits into quite well but I am going to redo a newer frame more closely to a Radius Model 10 /12. I would also add the fuel level indicator works very well still.
Interesting developments, it would be surprising if the tank was a Radius product without their usual inscriptions.
I have now identified the filler cap as being the same as the ones on the Radius models 37 and 39 from the 1950 Radius catalog on page 30. Here on https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/1950s-catalogue-no-56.203/ Mystery is closer to being solved.
I believe this second stove mystery is now solved. Yeah. Agreed. I now believe this tank to be from the right side of an early two burner Aladdin Range. This explains a few similar stoves that look like a Radius 10 or 12 but are not branded. See this post here: PS In the image earlier I have the control knob facing 180 degrees the wrong way.
