    Interesting indeed.

What are Trangia prices like over there? Here in the USA, doing a GBP-USD conversion, the group price on those kits isn't a good enough deal that I'd be willing to do that instead of an actual Trangia. If one has to pay list price, they're actually more than a real Trangia.

    I personally would pass.

    Why do you post that?
Is there a solution to all the problems that you have posted about?

That simply looks like a Trangia Clone.

Now I see what you're actually doing: A shill for some Trangia copy-cat company! You should have been more up front, from the start. Sorry, not interested!

Sigh, I have nothing to do with that company, I found them late yesterday while googling for something else. Other members have posted lower quality clones out of interest...
The gas entry is interesting to me because it is how I would have done it: I don't like the big hole in modern Trangias..

The saucepans did look interesting as a second source but they didn't give dimensions, so I don't know if they would fit a 25 (like actually own)....

Looks ok. “The Lava 400 from Endurance isn’t revolutionary, its evolutionary." Except it hasn't evolved from anything they designed! I guess if the product school kids have used for years in the UK & now isn't allowed to be used with regular alcohol the design makes sense although I'd want that to be proven in practice. My first impression is of a fuel lining lifting the windshield at that low entry point but I guess it depends what they're using.

I might have made the arch a little bigger but would a higher entry make much difference?

Typo in my post & the subsequent quote - fuel line , not fuel lining! I'll never know! I prefer my older Trangia without a hole & used as originally intended. On later Trangia's it would be multifuel stoves I used, if anything, rather than gas. This thread reminds me I must fettle my KAP Arctic stove for my Trangia & sell my Trangia gas stove!

If you are going to have a Trangia 'clone' the LAVA 400 does look to be a better one, along with the Tatonka & rarer Sigg versions, than others sold by the budget supermarkets. If I wasn't a die-hard Trangia fan-boy I'd like it more!:lol:

Marc replied re price point . Others might be bitching vs pitching in, sigh.

Lava's claim of more durable may be BS or may be valid?
With newer Trangia, imo, the durability is lacking (i've been spoiled w/earlier versions and regret purchases of later pieces).

I always trend to older/earlier. The durability of an early aluminum Trangia 25 is legendary.
With 2 early 25s, I can leave one to each kid, the 25s will outlive them... so..., for myself, although i arrive differently, i agree w/Marc's considerate reply, I too would not be seeking a Trangia copy.
    ----------------------------------------

as an aside Esbit took a run at Trangia market share, i presume w/o much success?
    thanks again

The picture reminds of a feature of the new Trangia's I do not like & that the LAVA 400 addresses. That's the guides for the strap on the lower windshield. I prefer the riveted guide rather than the new pressed out one.

Ross, now I had to go look at my 25 (the only one I have) out in the car....it has the riveted guide..

I've wondered if I would like the newer version where the upper and lower windscreen twist together.
I think not. I often take off the upper windscreen when fitting the simmer ring or putting out the burner, and enjoy just lifting it off.

I wonder if the modern Trangia could regain some dent resistance by offering the lower windshield in the original aluminium but drilled with ventilation holes all around (like Triangle is) thus avoiding the need for the warning to aim holes into the wind and clawingt back some weight saving: As the upper windshield is inside when packed it could remain UL alloy along with pots etc?

I would prefer the riveted on strap loops....because could then be removed cos I don't use them, just a bag.

Some further perusal of their website:---

It seem they may only supply group orders so I suspect no customer pays the undiscounted price so setting it quite high makes the savings look better,,,, (a common marketing ploy...)

It sounds like they sold Trangias first, listened to what school / youth group style customers said, then commissioned their own stove to try and address those.

They claim their HA pots will withstand the gas burner indefinitely when empty unlike Trangia UL ones (whichs video shows melted) .....but an HA coating conveys no extra strength according to my knowledge so maybe the pans are just thicker aluminium ? (one of the customer concerns mentioned was dented Trangia pans: NB I think the Trangia UL pans are a worthwhile compromise for most people, but as I suggested above perhaps an (optional?) non-UL Trangia base would be a preferred choice for some Trangia customerds.

A little competition is usually good for companies: I presume Trangia remains the bigger company.

NB I think the pot gripper is sprung (presumably it springs open): that might be usefuk useful? I am more interested in it latching shut (like the tatonka) but I suppose one could have both.

A feature of "new" Trangias being the stamped strap loop?
I have a kit from 1998 that has the stamped loops (and I don't know when the stamped loops started), so what is your definition of "new" :)
I guess, cosmetically, I prefer the riveted loops, but to be really honest, I never really paid that much attention to notice a difference in functionality. Stamping them surely reduces materials, weight, and manufacturing time.

If the carry bag was made snug enough and supplied as standard perhaps there would be no need for the strap or strap loops?

I'm a UK vet with diagnosed PTSD and I have been linking in with other 'like minded' vets. There is a palpable desire to get away from it all and getting back to basics in the field is a great draw. Trouble is we are vets in name and also in age and what the mind wants to achieve unfortunately the body sets the pace. I'm a long time user of Trianga and in latter days a bunch of smaller stoves for personal use - the Bulin T4 being my personal favourite for small stoves - including Carp fishermen who really know their gear.

However, as a group we are starting to coalesce around cooking systems with Trianga being the default. Its just easier generally and particularly on the pension wallet rather than a bunch of cooking alternatives. It also pushes us to working as team or groups.

I was curious about the Endurance Lava 400 link and since they offered a free sample to groups I took the plunge. Their promise of a sample is genuine; their team delivers and I received a full kit complete with gas burner and kettle free, including two cook in the bag meals and a packet of biscuits, (for the Brits - Cadbury Chocolate Fingers).

In the UK we are in strict Covid lockdown so no group review is available. I'm also aware that the sceptics amongst us would be wary of a review of a free sample. Suffice to say that in a trial in my garden, (yard to my American cousins) this is a first class little cook set and a definite alternative worth considering against a Trianga. This, it needs to be said from a Trianga 25 user of 24 years, with the same set, updated to non-stick and a gas burner (third party) is praise indeed. The HA finish remains to be stress tested - and it will be - but right now I can't give a definitive opinion. So far so good with pasta meals and some fry pan use.

I have absolutely nothing to do with the sellers of this stove. If I find the wear and tear does not live up to the hype I will say so.
Yes, this is a Trianga clone, but based on my limited experience to date, in fit and finish, its certainly worth a look if you are in the market for a Trianga type system and fit the criteria for their group discount or a free sample.

It looks like a modified Alocs set on the lower windshield:
Cookware - alocs - dine wild

The closest set/model in appearance looks like "CW-C05" but the cutout for the fuel line goes through the rim of the lower windshield. The holes look similar configuration wise.

The gas burner looks like it comes from the "CW-C33" set lower down on that page as the valve is that characteristic cylindrical-body-on-a-plate with a flat gasket type that is found on a lot of Chinese remote burner (iso)butane stoves.
