Thanks Marc. It was my first attempt at dehydrating and re-hydrating pizza sauce but it ended well. I purchased a size 9, size 8, and size 6 just before the trip. The wife got the size 8 and the other two were for me. That size six Opinel fits perfectly inside the Optimus 8R case and now has a permanent home there. The carbon blade makes excellent sparks on the ferro rod.

Not truly cooking here, but Herself and I did stop at a Wayside for lunch and a boil up whilst we were picking highbush cranberries these last couple of days. I pick most of the cranberries, Herself does the jelly work, and I do my best to stay out from underfoot when she’s working. Oh, and I’m given to showing up after the jelly has set, with scone in hand...

    The finished product...

A “Beggar’s Banquet”; a scone of warm Irish soda bread, (homemade), a knob of butter, and bringing fall color to the table, some fresh highbush cranberry jelly... Perfect lunch, on a chilly fall day...

Beggar!? Kings don't eat so well, or with such good company.

Thank you for taking us along.

Lunch beside the South Kawishiwi River, Northeastern Minnesota today,,, just a pull-off spot beside the road... Lunch happens when we’re ready, where we’re ready... A Trangia 25 today for the boil-up, and a vintage Coleman table and seats...

Homemade biscuits, butter, condiments, and hot black tea was for lunch.

There was a pile of seed loaded bear scat near where we had lunch. The bear had moved on though. We did see a black bear by the road yesterday, but it was 70 miles from this spot.

Interestingly enough, it is common to drive 70 or more miles here, all on good blacktop road, and never pass through or near a town...

Definitely not backpack material, but these old Coleman suitcase tables, with their 4 chairs, were/are pretty nice if the meal to be isn’t taking place far from the vehicle...

I had a little case that folded out into a kids picnic table, but don't remember what I did with it. Probably gave it to my brother.

I like the biscuit tin, Uneeda biscuit! A bit like the Itisa tents!

“Itisa tent” I like that one...

We use the Uneeda Biscuit tin to carry our tea, but also enjoy the whimsy of it, as if sitting at a tea, with table and napkins, in the literal middle of nowhere weren’t whimsical enough.
