Ever since I was inspired by the post here by @kerophile many years ago, I have 'collected' any cheap heavy wire gizmos that I find. This is a plant pot holder bought for 50 pence at a charity shop (before lock down 2).

I cut off the bottom just below the next ring, leaving the 'legs'

which just fit across the pot stand bars of an Eleventy-one.

With the leg bottoms leveled at an angle. it can be used as a stand to protect surfaces from the hot pot,

and it fits nicely into the 111 tin.

and I still have four different rings left to make other trivets.

Thanks George for the tip all those years ago.

    Nice pot rest, @Twoberth.

Isn’t it funny how we wander around junk shops looking for things to cut up into something else.

There’s another pot rest thread here:

DIY Pot stand for Opt. 111

    Cheers

Now and then you see a kindred spirit in the supermarket, lurking in the canned goods aisle with a tape measure.
    Got that T-shirt.

It much easier to remain incognito now with a mask on.

I've taken the measuring tape to cupboard looking for just that right size ...

Images of stovies with tapes and calipers in a market, while bemused shoppers look on would be something to see...
