I just ran across this peaceful little Christmas video from Trangia.

A nice, quiet video in a crazy world.

    Beautiful video.
Now I know how the Swedes say Trangia. With a hard G.
    I've always said: "Tran-GEE-a''.

    Oh, no! [-X
    It's not that easy

Many Swedes pronounce it without that hard G, so don't take this clip as an example of how it should be pronounced.

    Thanks, Christer for that advice.
Being an Old Dog, I'll continue to say it in my American way -- where the word rhymes with that primordial continent, Pangea.
The lady narrator in that clip had a very soft voice [as though reading a story to children]. I had to play it back a few times to make a choice as to what I'd heard. <<Tran-Ya>> was also close.
In English, the G in an ING word is offen silent, although the nasalized N is voiced.
Having never studied Swedish as a language, it is confusing. I flunked German twice in HS, but I know how to pronounce it [if done slowly].
I remember subscribing to Gevalia coffee, and being surprised to later find it was said ''Jeh-vay-lia'' not Khe-vah-lia [using kh as a symbol for hard G].

The G can be confusing. Some Gerrys are Garys, and some are Jerrys, to use one example I've encountered more than once.

Now I think about it, Gerry Nygaard (Nordicthug) was a Jerry, and an old legal colleague and friend of mine is a Gary gerry.

Then there's gaol, which many a Yank has tripped over.

I think Gerry Mountaineering in Boulder, Colo. was Jerry.

I think the most common UK pronounciation is tran-ja ?
