Nice NOS Primus 5140 burner, the 'rocket' burner equivalent to the standard No.1, sourced for work on a current project, but worthy of a post in its own right:
@igh371 Excellent! Last time I went looking for brass tube for that burner I was told "it must be a European size" and I ended up with steel exhaust pipe (manifold) tube that does a great job... but I might go hunting for some stainless for my other rocket stoves. Cheers Tony
Excuse me Primus 5140,5955 What was the flame ring length In my opinion 5140 have a brass ring, another have steel ring
@Tantra Part 5188 is the brass cylindrical flame ring for the 5140 burner. The 5955, 5956 5957 and 5958 burners had steel cylindrical flame rings. See here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/1930s-primus-burners-overview.21383/. I can measure my 5188 flame ring in the morning. Tony
@Tantra The burner in your photograph immediately above is from a “rocket stove” like one of these: From this catalogue (https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/1930s-primus-burners-overview.21383/) the burner number is 5140 and the flame tube is 5188 Best regards Tony
How long and what diameter in 5188 I have a experience in big Rocket, not easy preheat What about small rocket No.5140,no idea
@Tantra The flame tube is: 40mm long 41mm outside diameter 38mm inside diameter. I have used steel exhaust pipe to make these flame tubes: Sievert No. 3099 Cheers Tony
