These still come up every now and then: Vintage primus Optimus 00 camper messing sweden My first question is: Worth buying for the collection only? (I already have one.) Second question: The filler cap and release valve looks different from the Op 00 that I have; this one has a cone shaped knob holding the release valve screw. What does that say about the year of manufacture?
Worth buying NOS, you would have that answer. Buying that vintage 00? I'll not suggest either way nor "a specific year". Re filler cap with conical feature, I have said "...a c1993 indicator there..." source
Hi @Trusty McTrad Optimus No.00L "Camper". Made in Sweden, Early 1990's. Un-used. Best Regards, Kerophile.
Hi @Trusty McTrad and @Spiritburner The seller in the link you give above provides 19 photograph. Several of them (with a blue background) appear to have been taken from my entry in the CCS Reference Gallery. I certainly didn’t give my permission for this. And he didn’t even provide in-focus pictures! Best Regards, Kerophile.
@kerophile - right you are! How odd. By the assembly in the (hopefully) genuine pictures, it would seem that the seller has never lit a kerosene stove in their life. But steal images from an obscure online forum, they have…
Unfortunately, your recent report has been rejected: Post in thread 'Optimus 00 New in box, never fired' - A shameful behaviour, but we see that a lot. It's not a CCS issue, please contact the seller and confront him/her, thanks. 11 minutes ago Above is the reply I received from CCS Moderator.... Seems a bit weak... the photos have been “stolen” from CCS , not directly from me...Are all contents of the CCS Site free-issue to anyone who choses to take them? I would like to know. Regards, Kerophile.
My own guess is that little can be done about it, apart from remonstrances. What action could CCS take?
@kerophile From terms and rules; "Any content you post on the site remain your copyright. You give the site the right to display your content & the moderators the right to move your content elsewhere on the site for reference purposes. Content moved will remain assigned to your account. You also give members the right to hot-link your pictures in other threads within the forum to illustrate a discussion." So strictly speaking they have been stolen from you.
@Ed Winskill @janders Thank you for your comments. I accept that the theft might be from the individual who owns the photos but feel that CCS could agree and provide a form of words which could be sent to miscreants explaining the copyright situation and urging them to remove the offending images from their sales illustrations and desist from future infringement. Best Regards, Kerophile.
@Trusty McTrad This is on Finn . Have you sent a message to the seller questioning her use of the images from CCS .
Hi @A A C I have the language barrier to overcome.... Any potential buyer is looking at a gallery of photos originating from at least two stoves, one of which does not belong to the seller! Surely that is an infringement of the sales process. If anyone wants to help me with this problem I would be grateful. Best Regards, Kerophile.
@kerophile I use Finn all the time . I can send a message to the seller expressing your displeasure . Ok ?
@kerophile . My comment about sending a message to the seller was more addressed to Trusty but I can send the message
I am sitting here trying to find if Finn.no has a “report” function to alert the platform to the seller’s use of the photos.
@Trusty McTrad Don't bother... Finn.no does not get involved is my experience - unless the issue is stolen goods. Edit: Best approach is to contact seller on behalf of IP owner and request removal of pictures. If that doesn't work, use the report ad function and report violation. Not much more to be done.
@Trusty McTrad . Send a message to her and see what she says . If its a case of not knowing about copyright and the seller deletes the images , then fair enough
Perhaps nothing will come of it, but I have nonetheless reported the ad for violating the terms of service, by using fake photos/ photos owned by others. I also messaged the seller asking which photos, if any, were of the actual stove for sale, given that the blue background photos are all from @kerophile s post at CCS. I will let you know if I get a reply. T
So the seller replied, saying that she had "removed the borrowed photos", and that what was left was genuine and her own photos of the stove. As I clicked to see what other photos might have been removed, and... ..well, waddayaknow - the whole ad had been removed, presumably by the platform admin team! After all, this platform is owned by one of the world's biggest operators of classifieds and marketplaces online, and they should be concerned about their users' potential violation of copyright laws. Also, I did link to @kerophile s post on the CCS website, where at the bottom it clearly states: Copyright © 2000-2021 Classic Camp Stoves. All rights reserved Articles & Images are property & copyright of CCS or original contributor.
My report reply... Your recent report has been resolved: Post in thread 'Optimus 00 New in box, never fired' - BIN posts has generally been considered OK.
