Think I posted this before but following lock down thought I would try again.

Does anyone have a source for heat shields, I am looking for 3

    Thanks in advance
    Richard

I'm almost certain I have one out in the backyard if that's of any help? Otherwise Green Machine Surplus is probably your best bet.

Looked at Green Machine and last time none, I want to replace the ones with asbestos, and yes I know a firm to get rid of asbestos,

Actually contact them as opposed to just looking at what's on the website, I'll look tomorrow and see if I do have one. It'll be a steel one off a 2 Mk2 Modded if I do.

I need one for a no.3 myself. There's a guy on eBay currently selling whole No.3 cases which include the heatshield.

A fear of asbestos in that application is surely misplaced. It’s not as though you’d be drilling into it or otherwise generating airborne fibres.

Not that simple if the stove's in a re-enactment or otherwise public display. Anyway... The lining on my no.3 is in bits.

Yes agreed about the asbestos, work on building sites and the motto always is don't touch it.

Seeking an opinion does any one know which type of asbestos it would be?

@Surveyor Take a look at THIS post. Oh, and THIS one too.

On the topic of No.2 and No.3 heat shields @Rangie has said,

By “type of asbestos”, if you mean chrysotile or crocidolite or any of the other several types, you’d have to determine that on a case by case basis. In practice, after mining the various types were all just sold as “asbestos”, so any given batch could be a mix of types.

Yes I appreciate that but my thinking is that it would be a standard spec issued to the MoD
