Not all vintage Japanese stove are in Japan. I found one in a little village near Ottawa. By what I found on Wikipedia, look like this one is made by the original company Rinnai before the business become a Corporation. I don't know much before that but maybe @Rai, @BSSR @gonsoo or @motoshimakino can add some informations. Rinnai - Wikipedia Here the stove I should receive this week Will add more info as I will go through for restoration. N/B- what colour should I paint tank and button of the stoves. Her we go
Paint color? A hi temp Black stove [or engine] paint would keep the original look. The white top looks enameled. Looks fine in the pictures. Either leave it alone, just clean it up, or repaint in an engine [VHT] spraypaint White.
@JP2 + 1 w/Ben. and add you might want to get in in hand and go from there. If it is enameled or porcelain even (vs paint) i'm not sure you can improve it and again +1 w/Ben looks to be in good condition. I'm impressed with the whole thing from what we see, including knobs, tank & tank fittings which are not, can i say "typical". Very nice. Congrats.
We have 4 stoves similar as that one in the gallery and when I have found informations about Rinnai on Wikipédia, I taught that Rinnai was the creator of this model of stove by their history. I am very curious to see the plat translate in English which could give us more insight.
This is from my son in Japan "Top line (between the trade mark) reads Yunkaa. (Might be Junker, a brand name?) Second line is 私設瓦斯料理器 “Shisetsu Gasu Ryouriki” which is “Private (personal?) Gas Cooking Implement” The next two lines are a little too blurry for me to read so if you send a clearer picture I’ll have another crack. Rinnai Seisaku means “made by the Rinnai Corporation” (they’re still a going concern it looks like).
@Paul B Thank you with your help, as soon I received the stove, I take a better picture and let you know. Thanks to your son.
Hi. I did receive the stove and after some clean up, I am not going to paint it in general. However. The pot support need to be redone and it is broken. As you will see on pictures, it will need to be fixed by welding but I can't guess what kind of metal it is. Also the paint is a kind of plastic hight temperature same as the stove top. The tray under the burner is porcelain and it is a touch up. On the tank side, the fuel cap is like the one on an alcohol turm touring and by the little fuel into the tank, I can't guess what it is. ????????. ALSO WONDER HOW TO FIRE IT, ?????????????¿ More to come
@JP2 I was wondering what if you wrote to Rinnai and sent them the pictures, seeking their assistance? Who knows?... there may be some old parts lurking around.
Sorry sorry! Center line is a patent number 専売特許, 98006 Line below that is 新案特許 (I think, the second kanji is weird) which a separate word for “patent on a new device” Any idea how old it is?
