Bacon and eggs at the allotment. Polytunnel rection day, feeding the workers. Eggs straight from the hen house. This stove lives on neglect, fired straight up with old paraffin and a single prime.
I made the most of some fine weather on Sunday to give my Optimus 155 a good outing. It ran for several hours. First some bread in an Italian oven: Then 7 litres of elderflower cordial: And finally dinner: This was the first time I have deep fried anything in almost 20 years. The spun iron pot was ideal. -R
Pasta alfredo on happy face Kampkook No.7 . Got a good sear on the links that was missing on my camp made jambalaya and cream with real parm is better than milk and that stuff in green container. Did not use Coleman Oven for the berry crumble. Used air fryer to save the 100 year old paint.
Breakfast at Newark on 123R. Fried off cured pork and added sundried tomatoes. Then some mature cheddar and three eggs. Delicious with some olive sourdough bread.
Gave the Kampkook No 7 a tune up this morning and tested with a left over mexican food quesadilla. Don't take long for that CS pan to heat up.
First zucchini squash got slice, seasoned and cooked in Coleman oven. After one hour all I got was soft cooked squash not the golden roasted look I was after. Tasted fine and was better than just steamed in pan. New Mexican market close by and had to try the tamales out. Daryl sunny SoCal
Gave this RV Pro Toaster a workout last few days. Good at toasting bread and can reheat whatever items will fit.
On a recent motorcycle camping trip, I tried out my new Svea 123 with new pots. I have had similar pots before but bought these because they and the stove nest so well, and space is at a premium for me when motorcycle camping, bicycle camping, or backpacking. In addition to the (gratuitous?) glowing burner shot - seeing the cherry red thing makes everyone happy, right? - here was one meal I made. The main dish is a sort of pilaf using what I had: sauteed shallots, basmati rice, red lentils, Hungarian-style sausage, miscellaneous spices, probably also some dehydrated soup vegetables mix. The asparagus are about to be steamed in the large GSI mug-cup with (not shown) Trangia kettle lid. EDIT: after seeing the previous post, I am in awe of fellow motorcycle-camper Daryl’s ability to pack a much larger stove!
@Montrealer Can't beat the red hot Svea when it nests inside pots for travel and and you are able to cook some actual food. Seems a waist to just boil water when out .Much like the Peak 1 with cook storage/cook case. Just a day trip and only 8mi of dirt so I could pack heavy. About 1 hr 15 min away from home. The big 425S with chicken was in backyard, though it would fit in pannier.
