Hi. New to this site and to old liquid fuel stoves. I really just wanted to thank the creator/s of this site and all contributers. This is a 1930 Optimus 96 which wasn't running at all well when I got it. Now working consistently well with a lovely clean burn after some parts from Fettlebox and some peening to get the nozzle aperture right. A before and after might have been nice, but I wasn't comfortable leaving a big yellow flame spitting small fireballs out while I got my phone out! Also, anyone else been careless enough to be branded by the burner plate?!
@Mr Robin Hodgkinson Have been branded by most parts of stoves in one way and another! The flame plates stay hot for a long time! Excellent flame you have there to heat your branding iron! Cheers Nick
Radius 20 in all it's beauty Finally... I've always wanted one...and today finally got my flame plate for it in a great trade with @richmay (thanks man) Flame starting... https://youtube.com/shorts/iPIvVb_piJI?si=vqjmIoFJC0kUj-ar Flame on ... https://youtube.com/shorts/eEgweR0KS58?si=YRWu9gwZSyGavWkP
Svea 123 (no R) sounding like a jet airplane. Just because I haven't posted anything in a while & I was making coffee with it this morning,
I am simply awed by the cool stoves and great photos seen in this thread! A guy can really get lost browsing here. There is little indeed that I could contribute here, but I realized I do have a somewhat suitable photo I snapped last week when I used my old workhorse Optimus 8R to steam a bit of vine maple for a canoe coaming.
Thanks, @Rodger Willows. I think I’ve still got some eyebrows left after our spectacular burner cleaning event this afternoon…. Tony
