Has it been dropped on the burner coil?
It points towards the tank in a non common manner and i would suspect that the tank overheats and indeed becomes a bomb if fired to high to long?

That is just way too cool! But how do you shut it down?

Twist the regulator shut and wait until it's cooled down.

The spidery flame spreader is also a control wheel for the needle valve:

    Hi, Guys,

Now owning four Borde stoves, I've found that the angle of the burner coil can vary, sometimes greatly, from stove to stove. My newest one has the coils facing somewhat forward, and others are taller or shorter than one another. Hard to say about the back-ward facing coils, though. Like Henrik, I think that this could be a problem. Another one is that this fellow has added a rubber o-ring to the fuel plug/cap! There should be one made of lead insinuated down inside the filling hole, and once the plug/cap is tightened, using the coil support end, should need NO additional rubber o-ring. This could REALLY cause a problem, should the rubber melt down due to the heat this little guy puts out!! Just a thought, but I'd never do that with one of mine. It was designed for a lead o-ring, and that's what I will always use with mine. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
