Hi Stovies These are the the photos of my Primus No.5 S: or, that I purchased from the local Sale Rooms. I have managed to identify the year it was made, thanks to the reference guide on this page. However as I am a complete novice at being a 'Stovie'; can anyone of you folks help me with a few queries... What does S:or stand for? What does the J stand for in S & J Primus no 5? Was this a household stove or a camping stove? Why do the 94, and 210 stoves seem more popular than the no 5.....? When and where is the nearest Stovie meeting to Cheshire? Regards
I am only a newbie stovie myself, but from what I've learned so far, yours was intended more as a household stove for two reasons: The legs are fixed, not detachable; and it has a silent burner, not the aptly named "roarer". Welcome to CCS.
Hi Ali, check out this thread for answers re. S, J and :or. https://classiccampstoves.com/posts/132458 Best Regards, Kerophile.
Hi Thanks for the link. Most interesting. Does that mean that both the Senior and Junior were 25% thinner. If that is the case, what is the difference between Senior and Junior; is it size? You seem to be very knowledgeable???? Do you have many yourself? What would you say was the best one/model to look out for. Many thanks indeed. PS Another one has come up for sale at the Auction Room which I am collecting tomoorrow. Cheers Alison
Hi Alison, I think the Junior might have had a slightly lower-powered burner. I have several Primus No.5S:or and No.1S:or stoves. Check out this link: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/6923 Be careful! Stoves are habit-forming. Best Regards, Kerophile.
