Edit: title changed to 71K after later identification. Just arrived today. A Primus 71 E. It is without a date stamp and my cursory research suggests 1930s, maybe 36. It came with two Primus pots and a lid for the smaller of the two. A lot of corrosion on the lid and the smaller of the two pots. It did not come with a strap. I added the Arno strap. The windshield is in good condition. The stove itself is worn. No date stamp on base. Original cork cap washer is gone and replaced with an o-ring which I will be replacing. Has the lettering Benzin, Benzine Naptha and the trade mark lettering on the side with Primus 71 made in Sweden. It came with the short key. Nothing that can remove the jet included but I did take it off and prick it. One item that has me a bit perturbed. It looks like the pip has been put in with epoxy instead of solder. What do you guys think? It did not come with a pricker or pot handle. A Svea 123 pot handle fits and I have a glut of suitable prickers. Now for the cookset. As I said it came with two pots. Both Primus with one nesting inside the other. Only the smaller pot has a lid. The larger one: And the smaller with the same lettering: The smaller pot is a bit worse for wear but the seller had been completely honest and I knew before I bought it.
As I said the smaller pot including the lid is corroded. I will spend some time cleaning and fettling. I'm not completely sure about the way the PRV is set as well and I will be looking for a replacement pots or a lid for the larger one.
As you suggest, it appears the safety pin has operated and has then been re-sealed with something other than solder. I'd suggest doing a proper repair- remove what's there, clean thoroughly and soft solder.
It certainly did. Did they not run side to side for a while? This is the short tank with 71 written on it. The short key so I would place it as the thirties, maybe 36 or later. No date code so difficult to know.
@ewen, this is likely a No.71K kit, although missing the lid for the larger pot. https://classiccampstoves.com/attachments/1246697994-030-jpg.99168/
Oh, wow. Thanks. That solves a lot of questions I had regarding where the bigger pot came from and what to look for lid wise.
